Just had a offer from MDL to moor my boat.

What marina is that at?
Chatham
However you get all the mussels you can eat included in that price and really fresh too.

:)
probably get a annual berth in central London St Kats for not much more than double that but not the free seafood.

or at Hull marina which would be triple that
Really? I'm at York marina and a 12m is just under £4k (less early payment discount) and last time I checked Hull marina was on a par BUT that was before Aquavista took it over.

Sounds pretty good for a 12 metre boat and MDL facilities are normally excellent. Have you taken it?
Err ...........
12M on our club pontoon moorings is 1K per annum.
Diesel @ £1.20 per litre.
Facilities to do a annual lick and a promise regards anodes and A/F £45.00.
A clubhouse at the top of the companion way where a dinner and a pint could still be under £10.00.
Apart from having to put up with the odd Broom owner, think I might stay where I am and waste the other £5.500 on wine wimmin and song.
Ooo... and no que on sunny weekends to get into the lock.
Must admit if was to pick any marina on the Medway it would be MDL Chatham.
RCC are always looking for new members by the way . :)

yeah aquavista have really cranked up the prices its my old s28 was 2k first year 2nd year they put it up to 3.7k final year they wanted 4.5 and the berth holders group on facebook is showing another 70% berthing fees in the 2 years since I left. its insanely priced now I know i went for the jubilee for the weekend and it cost me 80 quid for 2 nights in my now s43.

A few years ago Hull Marina did a buy 5 and get one free on the visitor rates. But not since they rebranded as Aquavista.
I had no idea the permanent mooring charges were so high. It's not like the pontoons at Hull are anything special.

Here at Farndon the rates have increased but not at the scale you describe at Hull. However the unavoidable costs for mooring and river license remain a concern.

I tend to find in life that you get what you pay for. :)

Have a suspicion that most of the private marina chains are simply small parts of some portfolio managed by some investment fund, using borrowed money, St Kats has been been bought and sold several times and displaying some impressive returns.
Our largest local independant marina has been undergoing considerable change, the marina not being the primary beneficiary.
All the council run harbours are probably now going to have to start paying their way as well.
