aaahhhh, spent a bit of time writting up the first one and then Firefox crashed and I lost it all..bugger.
So, drove the boat up from Athens to Halkiidiki, took 9 hours which was a bit tough after work on a Friday but traffic was light so no worries....14 year old Discovery managed to strain it's way up the hills...which in Greece are many.
Launched and took her to the swinging mooring outside the in-laws holiday home....as you can see the sea state was terrible:
Did a few test runs with our 3 month old....as I thought, she just fell asleep:
The boat was moored at Gerikini (middle bit between the first and second leg). After a couple of test runs we headed off to Sani which is half way down the left hand side of the first leg:
Had to go through a canal at the top of the first leg:
Moored up in the marina and spent a couple of relaxing days at the hotel:
It was my first time mooring in a Marina with this boat and the only time before was on my Dazzed kipper...as you can see there was some expensive toys near by...this photo gives you an idea of how large and expensive, thankfully I took my time and everything went a'ok:
This was in the Marina, I would have thought two 140's were a little too much for a sailing cat but perhaps she can motor along quite nicely:
After a few days we headed off (via road) to a spot just at the top right hand side of the second leg. There is a rather lovely Island close by which I'd been planning for weeks of exploring....unfortunately the weather turned a bit so we only really got one chance of a around Island trip but the evening anchored up in the shallows was still fantastic...we moored the boat up on a pontoon marina so it gave myself and the wife a chance to practice our stern to mooring.
Second day we headed out but the sea was just a little too choppy for my likings with the little one so we dived into a small bay and decided to have a BBQ:
Went and did a bit of evening fishing with the brother-in-law and his mate...would you adam and eve it, the bellow to the gear cable came away and because the two lads with me were a little heavy she was sitting lower down in the water and she started to fill up with water in the engine bay.....on top of this the steering cable connection to the leg also came loose which meant I lost steering...thankfully I didn't panic and carrying half a work shop on board I managed to fix the steering and the manual bilge pump took care of the water which wasn't a problem once we were moving....talk about baptism of fire on my first night trip but all's well that ends well.
So, boat works a treat....I have a few things to Iron out but considering it was pretty much a re-build everything works very well...although I reckon I need to get the carb looked at as I told the little one how much petrol we were getting through and this was the response:
