they don't put doors on the ground floor of lighthouses like that. Me thinks someone has been playing about, strange how dry the balcony appears considering it is supposed to be awash!

This version may be, but I have a large framed print in my lounge of this (La Jument lighthouse) which is by Jean Guichard. This is the 'classic' version and I suspect the one shown is a modified copy?
We do do also have a framed print by Plisson of La Phare du Tevennec in a storm, which is totally breath-taking, especially if you've been near it in lumpy weather - as we have!
Agreed!! Fabulous photographs. These are the only two pictures we have in our lounge, there to remind us of the incredible beauty and immense power of the sea.
We 'know' both of the lighthouses so there's a certain deja vu.
