Where have all the anchor/anchoring and how much does it cost to become a liveaboard question ?
Or have we all learned how to use our anchors and gone off livening on board?

Unfotunately, Brexit seems to have diverted people's attention from such important issues and others, equally important, such as blue ensigns, pink trousers, Breton caps! :D

Although one encouraging sign of a return to normality is a new thread dealing with the vexing topic of rafting up, and how awful anyone you raft up on is likely to be

Or unless you know how to anchor in which case you sleep at night with whatever anchor you have got with the boat, so CQR, Danforth a couple of times and now probably a Delta.

Rocnas are bought by people who had trouble so now go so many sizes up their anchor could be a cannon ball and still hold.

There - does that help get a thread going?

Vic,
I’m thinking about a move to liveaboard and based upon clear preferences from those in the know (those who only frequent the Liveaboard Forum), I’ve created this list of “must have” features:-

Twin steering wheels
Wide beam, carried aft
Drop-down transom, preferably electrically controlled
Teak Deck
Fin keel
Spade rudder
Fractional rig with swept back spreaders
Bermudan Sloop
CQR Anchor, connected with a swivel to 20m of 8mm chain, plus 30m of 12mm 3-strand nylon.
Spacious below deck, at least 2 heads

How much battery bank will I need and if I fit a solar panel, should I use a PWM or MPPT controller?

Well done Rupert .
I wonder why since I brought my Rocna I not dragged , some one suggest it was because it's a 75kg for my small 42 footer and there me thinking I should had brought 90kg

You forgot the Genset for and 600 watts of solar on the Arch with GPSx2 TV Ariel , 2 x spare VHF 2 x Spare AIS wind Gen and the onionns all hanging from the Arch
This will allow the microwave, kettle, washing machine to work
do not forget the 15hp with the tender just in case you need to get from one pontoon to the next

Come on them :p

But then you'd have to get a larger windlass to lift it and add extra solar panels and chargers to power it. A gantry would be good to fit the panels on so they are not in the shade and of course you could increase the size of your battery bank and while you're at it replace all the existing batteries with Lithium or some other high tech alternative.

Then the windlass breaks away taking the foredeck with it & goes to see Davy Jones, breaking wires blow all fuses/ breakers & the batteries boil dry & explode

Would it be better to use epoxy or polyester resin to repare the foredeck and if I laminate some re-bar into the deck to strengthen it, will it stop it happening again when I try to lift my massive anchor.
