Just bought my first boat! Macwester Rowan. Any Rowan owners out there to offer tips!

Caprice, Sihouette, Debutante etc etc come to mind but forumites will know loads more

None of those noted for exceptional sailing performance and all far smaller than the Macwester - and they were mostly plywood and have rotted away while the "miracle" GRP boats are still around and many still giving pleasure to their owners - even if they are slow in tacking.

Remember when these boats were new it was the age of wipe clean Hygena kitchens and given the choice between a cramped little wooden boat full of dirt collecting stringers and ribs and a spacious wipe clean, light, breezy interior with full standing headroom - and no painting every year, not surprising the early GRP boats quickly replaced the utilitarian ply offerings.
