Had a great time sailing the boat over from Ramsgate to Dingle last week. We left Ramsgate on Saturday 18th, the route was via Weymouth, Dartmouth and Salcombe then picking up the last crew member from Plymouth before departing for Dingle on Thursday at 22:00. We arrived in Dingle at 12:30 on Sunday after a 5-20 knot NE wind had given us a single, (200 mile long) tack from The Scillies to Skellig Rock off of Dingle. This was the longest trip that I have done to date and I have learnt a lot about me, the boat and, probably most importantly, managing a crew on passage.
A wonderful trip, with a great crew, we have left the boat in Dingle and now I am really looking forward to getting back over to Ireland with the family for our summer cruise from Dingle down to Cork. This is why we go sailing! Nothing else touches it.
Having spent much of the winter looking at the ICC Cruising Guide for S and W of Ireland I now have to make up my mind about which ofthe delightful looking harbours we actually will visit. Spoilt for choice!!
