Well I have gone and done it now and bought a caravan/yacht/boat for cruising on a shoestring. After much faffing and budget searching I have picked a Tamar 24 sloop a bit smaller than I have searched for but ticked so many box's that there was no way I could turn it down.
Many thanks to 2 forum members who have stuck with me on my quest Old bilbo and Sarabande with a special bonus point to Bilbo as he drove a lot of miles to inspect the boats with me.

Never heard of one so I googled for pics - what a fantastic looking little ship!!! Enjoy!.

Edit: Just realised the first pic was a ketch ....

Welcome to the Boat Owners' forum, Cap'n Mad :)

Not quite the same, as the one you found is the ketch with a whatsit roof thingy ( nice one though )

Needs a little work but good sails recent engine and tidy for the year.

Nice ... you're going to have fun in her. Turn on the shower and start tearing up the money, welcome to the club :D

marvellous.... she looks like a perfect grand ship!

You'll soon learn to love and hate boat ownership in equal measure.... but for sure, you'll never ever forget your first 'proper' boat!

Dunno when the hate begins to kick in - we've been sailing for about five years now and it's still 100% love

I love these publicity photos. They have a special agency that supplies midgets to make the cabins look bigger.

:)

They don't seem to use them so much any more, but yes there are some unbelievable photos in the old 70s brochures.

Putting little girls in adult clothes and makeup seems to have been a common trick. I saw one though where they'd included a wine bottle in shot to make things look sophisticated, but if the girl was adult-sized then the wine bottle next to her would have held about five litres :)

Nice one. Hope you have a long and happy time with her,

Now you will reach for the gadget catalogues......
