No photo, but someone was sailing a MAB with a junk schooner rig up the coast from Spurn yesterday, I was the yacht going the other way ( there was only one..) and I would be interested to know about your boat.

Good job your on the south of the river or they would shoot you, I’m not even sure the East Yorkshire bit is liked. County names a bit emotive around “Humberside”

Yes, last time I was in GY docks it was in South Humberside, now it's in NE Lincs apparently..
I was on board several old Grimsby side trawlers back then, and they all had enormous improvised Yorkshire roses, deeply carved in conspicuous places with gutting knives. Also, the Humber Bridge was called the Perineum :nonchalance:

It will indeed have been Batis on passage to Hartlepool and its new owner! Have sailed on board her many a time and is well known on the Humber and over to Holland!

You have solved a mystery by giving her name..when I was coming into the Humber that evening, VTS Ch14 kept asking me if I was a small craft with 'Batis' displaying on AIS, I repeatedly assured him I don't have AIS but he didn't believe me :)
(actually the poor VTS operator sounded really stressed and overloaded, and a few minutes later a calmer voice came on the radio, and at last gave me clearance to cross to the south for GY..)

Being based in Grimsby I'm surprised you didn't recognise Batis as she has been berthed at the G&CYC for 10-12 years I think! Eddie, the then owner, was always happy to take new crew out for a sail which was always novel with Batis being Junk rigged!

If Ohlin gets as far as La Rochelle, the Café de Commerce in Ars-en-Ré has a rather nice junk attached for day trips.
IIRR it was cold moulded in India, not a conversion, so looks right.

Sounds interesting..yes the boat is desperate for varnish, so I'm heading south until I meet the sunshine, wherever that may be..

That's the one! Great detective work sir. She looks amazing under sail.

We have a sistership Challenger 35, albeit with a sloop rig rather than junk.
But I remember seeing Batis advertised for sale some years ago, and then again recently, so I did some googling and 'found' her again.
I was guessing that there cannot be too many junk rigged schooners up your way.
