Re: Junk Mail !,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I'm registered with the Telephone Preference service and it really does work.

Not so bothered about mail as it is not as intrusive and occasionally has something worth reading in

Registered with both about 9 months ago ,dramatic effect on cold calls and amount of garbage in post box.If you do get a cold call tell them you're TPS registered and they push off smartish,as big fines can be levied.

Re: Junk Mail !,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Registered with them about 6/7 months ago. While the calls don't stop entirely, there a certainly less of them.

Quite enjoyed those "Can I speak to the homeowner, please?" Passed them on to my 6yr old son & put it on speaker - always good for a laugh.

Re: Junk Mail !,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Totally agree with colmce. I'm registered with both mail & telephone (including my mobile), and can definately say that junk has all but dried up.

Our telephone number is also ex-directory, and we also exclude ourselves from the electoral role available to punters.

Also invest in a shredder and shred ANYTHING with your address on it, as "stolen" identity fraud is also rife.

Re: Junk Mail !,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I have taken a new tactic on this – I now tear up the contents and the envelope and put it in the return envelope. Then I post it back to them! I feel that this moves the disposal problem back to them – why should I pay local infill tax for them and it keeps the Postman Pat in a job. If we all did this it might change their mind a little – they have to pay the postage twice.

What I find normally works is to tell the cold caller you are currently eating your dinner but if they would like to give you their home phone number you will call them back later. Funnily enough, none have obliged so far....

Registered with TPS some months ago and it definitely works.
