Jubilee Pageant.... not for the faint hearted ?

saw an interview with Thames River authority chap, in his words, if you are taking part in the Jubilee Pageant, at any one time there will be 8 boats surrounding you within a boat length....

I think it will be a spectacle... but I wouldn't wish to take part.

You've no sense of adventure I think it will be absolutely magnificent I'd love to be one of those boats

For the IPC crowd (thats Yachting World, Motor Boats Monthly and Motor Boat and Yachting) it is as follows...

Sealine 28 (Neal and Claire / MBM/ their own boat)

Nigel Irens designed green slim 50 odd foot Motor Cruiser which I cant remember the name of (David Glenn Yachting World)

Beecham Searider 45 Will have Kim Hollamby on board (as its his boat) and he is I believe doing something for MBY but I might be wrong

The big sail stuff is moored above and below Tower bridge, some nice stuff there.

The only thing we dont know is how high or low the tide will be stopped at.

Hi yes my bits will be in the next MBY. It was a good day and closing the Thames Barrier made, as you might expect, a radical difference to rehearsals where we were on lively ebbs.

The level gave generous headroom on the bridges although we did bottom out on the temporary moorings and judging from radio traffic the Dutch barges were a bit stuck rather too close to their push off time, but it all worked out fine.

We probably never got anywhere close to eight boats within a length most of the day but with little tide it was all very gentle anyway and when the fleet bunched up it was easy to pick a spot to stay out of trouble.

We did collect one boat up the posterior inbound to West India Dock in the Lock - they were so intent on messing about with bits of string they did a doodle bug on us but fortunately with only a bruise to our teak bathing ladder.

All in all a fantastic day, albeit a very wet one!
