Hello everyone!!

Home to work - Based on past 2 day's 20min - 1 hour. I used to have a 150mile round trip and 1.5-2hour commute each way not so long ago (

Home to Boat - As long as it takes me to get out of bed and get to the front door!)

Time to get boat from house to water 1.5minutes )

Get the impression most people here would dwarf my little boat!

It's really tough at this time of year walking the 5 min to our boat in 33C heat and >70%RH. It's much more comfortable if I take 10 min to get there/forums/images/icons/smile.gif.
Seriously, though, I can't imagine having to drive 100+ miles in that ugly UK traffic to get to the boat. That really is LOVE.

Think Neraida is closer to marina gate than Bacchus, just timed it, without wait for lift and trot downstairs, 90 seconds...

Get a tad annoyed with people meandering down ramp as this can add 5-10% to our journey time...

Ours is 110 miles from Grays, Essex to Ocean Village. Either M25 from Toll bridge, M3 or M25, A3, A31, M3. Either way its M25 and the Tolls. Best time 1:40, worst over 6 hours, average seems to be about 2:30.
What is it about Ocean Village which makes people want to do all this travelling??

House to boat 20 mins (25 if we are unlucky at the level crossing).
Personally, I couldn't hack hours in the car every weekend. Admire the commitment of those that do!

Re: UK- Med commuting

I think you've got this thing better sussed than we have especially the 'Emma' bit and using the short term at Luton. Now that Easyjet have relaxed their cabin baggage regs, I might just be able to persuade SWMBO that 5 pairs of shoes may not be absolutely necessary for a long weekend
We used to have a tame taxi driver from Nice to LaNap but now we're in Spain and quite a bit further from the airport, renting a car is the only way to do it
If you've got limited time on your boat in the Med, like us, I think you have to minimise the hassle factor of getting there otherwise it gets to be too much of an ordeal

We travel Birmingham to Lymington every calm sunny weekend, so haven't been for a while, but I can offer some help with the roadworks on the A34. Travelling South, when you pass the first roadworks sign, take the next exit to Litchfield (even if you can't see the traffic queing ahead). Turn right and the road runs parallel to A34 for a few miles until Whitchurch, where you can rejoin the A34 at the end of the roadworks having saved a fair bit of time and a few mm's of fingernails.
