Jotuns UK distributor is selling its paint range on Ebay, prices seem very reasonable for its epoxy coating and antifoul.
Says they are used on the QM2 so must be ok for use on my humble 25ft sloop surely!

As far as I know Jotun have a very good reputation. However, yotties are a notoriously conservative lot, and do tend to like their favoured names, so it might be interesting to here what others have to say?

Very sound, quality comparable to Blakes.

I used their FV antifouling for 6 years, had to buy in 25l quantities to get it at a price comparable to 22% of International Cruiser. Only available as rust colour.

Erodes well, suggest putting on 3 coats if you use the boat much. Will, after haul-out, dry out and flake after about 5 weeks, so you need to go back to gelcoat when repainting.

Used it for a number of years, as did a select few of my aquaintance!, mainly 'cos the price for "Super Tropical" was working out @ £28. 00 per 5L.....ended up having to heave 6 25L drums into the Boot! every Spring... seriously, pretty good stuff and certainly equivalent to, if not better than International/Blakes.

This is my 3rd boat (15years) that I have used Jotun SeaGuardian blue AF on. It is excellent. The reason I have used it is because of the long term application it will work. It was used on the P&O containerships I was on, and had to last 3 years between drydocking.

I use the longlife Sea Guardian in blue as well on my fishing vessel. Probably the best stuff I have used but ensure you buy the correct grade. Presently have the 48 month stuff. tried the 12 month stuff and it was very poor. Local fish coop now only stocks Jotun 48 month Guardian. I will be using the same on my yacht shortly.

The R&D that goes into the products is exceptional. If the marketing side was as well pushed, there is no reason why it would not be a world leader in marine coatings,

Re: Jotun paints any good? Certainly MN seems to think so ..

Jotun is a respected name in commercial shipping circles ...

Used Jotun A/f years ago and fine .... only problem I had was when I bought old stock at a Boat Jumble and it had basically lost its quality and action. When painted on it onion-peeled ... like a dried river bed. Had to lightly scrape back and recoat. But still worked.

I used Seaguardian last year and this year am using Seaforce 30 which is their updated offering for this year for yachts.

I bought from Shepard Marine who are the Ebay suppliers. Very good to deal with

Cost incl VAT and delivery 75quid for 5litres.

I think this will be my regular choice now..loads cheaper than Blakes etc.

Yes Jotun A/F is OK. I put 2 coats on in November and a look under this morning shows the first needs for a wipe down. ie first weed showing. That is good for these warm waters. Usually after about 4 months I has wiped much of it off. olewill

I use all jotun's range...primer, antifoul, topside and varnish, have done for a long time. I have only one niggle and this is, it is a lot cheaper than known boaty paints. My other concern is if too many people start using it the price will go up. In fact this paint is a load of rubbish you would be to best stick with known names!!

Used on many shipping containers,if its good for commerce it must be good for yachties.

I used to use Jotun Penguin (which is their yottie as opposed to commercial brand) a few years ago but then it became difficult to find locally. It was certainly better that the International/Blakes/Seajet et al that I have been trying each season since to find something that even nearly works. I will certainly get some Jotun this year - thanks for pointing out a supplier!

My present ship has a 5 year plan of Jotun AF.
We dock once every year for a bottom inspection for flag state (MCA) requirements. Have been monitoring the wear down of the AF at each dock.
Going by the last dockings we don't expect to apply any AF until next year - the 5th year. We are well impressed.
I believe any coating requires good preparation and application in good conditions - always follow the instructions on the can ref temperature and application details.
Personally I like Jotun paints, International a close second.
