I am nearing completion of the hull on a Highlander 18. This is an 18' daysailer made with plywood in the stitch and tape method and I am not going to be sheathing in fibreglass.

I will shortly be needing to apply a few coats of paint to the outside of the hull and have decided to use Jotun Vinyl Gaurd 88 as the primer and Pilot II as the final coat(s).

Just wondering if the consensus of opinion says I have made the right choice and has anyone got any comments on Jotun. Oh and obviously if there is a little supplier somewhere who sells the stuff for near to nothing /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks

In the process of completing my boat with Vinyguard 88 and Seagaurdian (replaced now I know with Sea Force 30).

Jotun is a massive worldwide organization (I believe the second largest paint manufacturer in the world after Akzo Nobel (International Paints)).

It has factories all over the world. The UK factory in Scunthorpe makes 25 million litres a year of commercial products for the Euopean market.

At the moment Jotun is not prepared to spend millions necessary to get a foothold in the small boat market with highly priced products from their yachting range. Their products are excellent IMHO. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
