Jotamastic 87 - Too thick!

Yesterday the keels of my Westerly Centaur were slurry blasted and she will be left in the crane slings over the Bank Holiday weekend.

I warmed both parts of the Jotamastic 87 before mixing and applied the 1st coat of with a brush, but it is way too thick,

I only have the weekend to get the job done (2 days left) sodo not have the time to get the recommended thinners from SML Paints.

I have some acetone, would that do the job. If not Screwfix is open tomorrow, do they sell anything suitable?

Iircc there are two versions of said paint winter and summer you might be using "tother un " take some out of your mix and mix it with 15 % anti foul thinners paint it on somat (not yer boat ) see what happens. You should get away with that I've sprayed most jotun paints in the past but tend to use only gun thinners ( acetone) for cleaning my kit

I wouldn't use acetone or antifouling thinners but you will probably be OK with thinner for epoxy from one of the other manufacturers if Jotun is not available. International or Hempel will be the most likely. I can't remember which number thinner it is but look on the instructions and it will tell you if for an epoxy.
Jotamastic 87 is really meant for airless spray application so thinners definitely needed for brush. Make sure you stipple it well into pits and voids to try to avoid air bubbles getting trapped, even when thinned

I think it is no 17 - ie xylene

I used Jotamastic 87 on my steel ketch after glass bead slurry blasting but it was a warm June in 2013 and the consistency was spot on.
