Can you reach the Jolly Sailor in Hamble by water? Specifically in a 6.5m rib?

I can see from photos that it has a small pontoon but is it available at all states of tide?

If not, or if it is full up is there a marina close by that you could get a visitors berth and then walk to it?

The Jolly Sailor pontoon looks like it would be OK a couple of hours either side of high water, maybe longer for a RIB. Do give them a call and you might get a more specific answer. Decaons is indeed the nearest alternative parking. It is not possible to walk to the Jolly Sailor via Deacons. Instead, exit Deacons onto the main road. Turn left under the railway bridge and then immediately left again towards the railway station. Pass the railway station and go up the hill. You will soon come to the high level entrance to the Jolly Sailor.

Yup that’s right. The foreshore walk would be much shorter but a lot wetter!

The foreshore walk is no longer available. Alas, the link from Deacons to the Elephant boatyard and beyond was closed some years ago.i do see some folk try to bypass the fence along the high water mark from time to time but most occasional hopeful strollers turn around and exit disappointed when they realise there is no coastal walk on the west side of The Hamble.

Yes, that’s what I meant, you’d have to walk in the water knee deep in the mud!
