Still a nice place for a drink but the current owners are doing a sterling job of turning what was a great food pub into somewhere that serves bad school type dinners. It's gone steadily downhill over the past 15 months and has now got much worse than mediocre. Such a shame. Avoid for food unless you like pig swill.

Was there early May bank holiday and thought it alright!

When did you go and what did you have?

I went there last September as it is recommended in some sailing guide. It was truly horrible. Don't know about pigswill though - perhaps a bit harsh? My girlfriend fancied a steak which she could not eat. Dog happily ate it when we returned to the boat!

I had tended to eat there a couple of times a month for the past few years. Last time was weekend of 9/10 June - it was getting marginal before then - and won't be going again until it improves.

Went in there Saturday, not been there for years. Apart from location it was hard to discern from the average chain pub, even had surly youth taking food orders and flippant barmaids more interested in putting ice down each other's backs than serving customers.

Only had various sandwiches and bowls of chips which weren't bad, but nothing to go out of the way for. Also seemed to have two different menus on the tables, one of which you could order from, the other you couldn't.
