Use to go now and then with a boat load but now off my list.
The pies are served in a tin. Remove the pastry top and the tin is full of air with a shallow layer of contents. (Basically you get half a pie.)
Complained and sent the food back.
(Unaware to me at the time was that the adjacent table had done exactly the same thing.)
The reaction to the complaint was "Well that's how are pies come."
A pint of orange and lemonade was £3.50
I know a lot of people really rate the place but I now consider it expensive, poor value for money and failing to deliver.

Used to be a wonderful pub with character and atmosphere. Now it's just another restaurant that happens to serve beer, imho. Fabulous setting, mind you.

Have to say, couldn't agree more, we went a couple of weeks ago, never been before and was looking forward to it. food was very average and very expensive. SHMBO had fish pie and was ill after. Staff tried but were young and inexperienced. wont be going back!

We went there last weekend, and it was very nice, service was attentive, friendly and good. not the cheapest place, but not as expensive as I was expecting.

We started off with a selection of bread, warm and yummy as it should be. It came with a peppery olive oil, butter and balsamic vinegar

For mains we both had burgers and very good they were too...OK they weren't the cheapest burger, but I've had worse. The specials had sold out, first choice was grilled venison

Desert we had bread and butter pud.

Not the most challenging of meal admittedly, but I'd been in France all week and wanted simple unpretentious food.

Beer (badger and tanglefoot) were good and the wine was also very good, served at the right temperature.

We came away feeling very stuffed, may be a bit too stuffed, but that was more our fault than theirs.

We'd go back again

I think that underlines my point, really. It used to be a special place to go for a drink, with an atmosphere all of its own, now it's just another restaurant; a perfectly respectable one but nothing to make it stand out from the crowd.

Not really a criticism of the place itself, more a maudlin old git bemoaning his lost youth

We went a couple of weeks ago. It was a bit pricey for what it offered and trying too hard - almost regretted going.

it was a fantastic pub about 10 years ago. when pubs become part of a chain they are usually ruined.

Used to live the otherside of the river in the tiny cottages at Burselden Hard. We'd pop across by inflatable a couple of times a week and it was very enjoyable way to spend an evening.
That was until 2005 when we moved to Poole.
Went back with some friends about 18 months to 2 years later and it was a real dissapointment.

Wouldn't go back again.

Fantastic location with lovely views and excellent water access but unfortunately rather uninspiring these days. Too much like any other wanna-be gastro pub. Certainly not terrible but were it not for the location and water accessibility it would not be worth a detour.

Went back on Sunday evening.
Due to previous experience we only ordered deserts.
Glad we did because they were rubbish. Sticky Toffee pudding like dried out rubber. One of the crew even sent their latte back.
I did hear two customers talking who really enjoyed their meal. They both had salads. So salads may be 'ok'. Skip everything else.

This place always has been dire, trading on location & Howards Way. I remember going there once years ago to find the food inspectors had closed the kitchen down, seemed to be run by Hells Angels !
