I have 2 Jabsco electric toilets on my boat. Stb side is no problem but since I got the boat the port side lets water seap back into the bowl after flushing. It's definitely from the discharge side. I've replaced the joker valve twice but it's still happening. Yesterday I took it off again and I soaked the housing in white vinegar and scrubbed it until it was spotless. .put it all back together and still the same. What am I doing wrong?20241017_123759.jpg

Did you inspect the lips of the valve? Sometimes they deform and do not close fully.
I replaced it twice so this is the 3rd one since I got the boat in April and it has been the same from the start. @aslabend #2 prompts me to look for the pt no for the joker housing and try to find a replacement.

I had a jabsco electric conversion kit that the pump being a dual pump had a rubber vane pump for the flush and a macerator pump for the discharge.

I must admit I cannot remember a joker valve as the input was bay a rubber vane pump and not an up down pump as the hand pump

When the electric pump rusted I replaces it with a diaphragm for the discharge and a water pump for flush with separate push button operation / timer

Just out of interest....have you taken apart the macerator and cleaned the blades and checked that the macerator housing slot is lined up properly with the joker valve housing

The other key is to flush enough water so that any that seeps back is clean. Is the discharge hose route on port higher or longer?
Both toilets and tanks at exactly the same level. Port discharge is on the tank side of the toilet whereas stb is the opposite side so stb is actually longer.

No, and I'm not inclined to - well enough alone. This is a simple setup and the joker valve should work independently of the inner workings. Problem has to be with the joker or the joker housing.

This is the bit I need except, of course, I can't find anyone in Türkiye selling it. Year around boating in nice weather has a few drawbacks

I had a Jabsco Lite for many years. Its flush pump was the same unit as a domestic water supply pump. The macerator definitely fed through a joker valve. I have removed it for cleaning countless times and still have four or five spare ones, even though its manual replacement has never needed one in five or more years

Just throwing out possibilities.

Tightening the screws unevenly can sometimes cause this. More sensitive than you would think.

Also a note to all readers. When re-installing screws tapped into plastic, be VERY careful to reuse the existing thread by backing the fastener until you feel the thread "click" and then twisting the screw in. If you cut new threads each time, it will be ready to strip on the third go. Very important, particularly with Jabsco products. Actually, this is true of self-tappers in all materials, it's just most common in plastics.

If you look at the photo in my op you'll see 2 screws, which are easy enough to deal with, but the bottom hidden one is a bitch. A regular size screwdriver is too long and a stubby is too fat to get under the housing even with the hose disconnected and out of the way. I've been using a small ratchet and screwdriver head. The housing seats in well to the base of the toilet but it's very difficult to exercise any precision in tightening the screws. No such difficulty on the stb side because the hose connection is on the inboard side and oodles of room.

Don’t need to tell me...I changed the joker valve last weekend....not because I needed to, but because I had taken off the macerator giving me a bit more room....just out of interest...the chandler phoned today to say the new part has arrived....so fingers crossed it will go together easily and I will have a working toilet and go boating this weekend
