On a previous thread I asked for information about the battens for an in-mast furling mainsail.
I received lots of useful information and now I have all the correct specifications. I know which product to buy for the battens from Bainbridge that for my sail size of 55 square metres is 8mm diameter round batten.
Due to the very long size of some of the battens (12 metres for the longest) initially I debated whether to have the battens as joined segments for easy handling and storage or as single size. I decided for the single segment and guess what? Bainbridge has 10 weeks wait to get the longest reel that would allow to cut them to the full size. Shorter segments are available in stock. Good enough to have only 2 segments for the longest battens.
So now I have one further question around joining the battens. Bainbridge says that they do not have any product to join the battens.
Please could you let me know what is the best way to join 8mm diameter round battens? And if I need a product, which one, and where to buy it from?
