I have acquired a Garmin 65 GPS & antenna, unfortunately the chap had wired it through the hull etc and cut the aerial wire removing it. I am after the connector that goes in the back of the unit (aerial) as well as some form of coax connector M/F to join two pieces of the stuff together, any ideas anyone?

All sensible suggestions gratefully received!

Many thanks

As already stated the connector is a BNC male, available from Maplin/chandlers. You will need to feed it through a deck gland before re-terminating it below. The best way is to crimp it and then use another cable (ask for RG58) with BNC female one end and male the other to extend it to the GPS receiver. Wrap the joint in self-amalgamating tape and make sure it is properly secured.

The cable carries the GPS signal from the antenna, but be aware it also carries DC voltage up to power the antenna so it needs to be properly made.

Anyway, many thanks for the help.

Not proporting to be an expert in any way but you may be interested to note that your advice is identical to that I received from garmin when I posed a similar question to them recently.
