Joining 2 anchor chains

Just bought an extra 30 m of anchor chain (thanks for adviceMike F) now I just need to know how to join the 2 together saw a link thing you tap in a rivet with a hammer but the guy who sold me the chain said there not that stong better to weld it forum views please

You need a Kenterlink shackle. They are made for the job.

Welding is the way to go if you have the necesary skills or know a professional who is prepared to do the job for you. I would never use the riveted joining links.
