Johnson Seahorse 4HP Manual, download needed

No idea what year, but model number is J4BRCNR if that helps. Tried a few searches that turned up some info but nothing I can download in time to get it going this weekend.

Might be able to find something, give me a few minutes - and you'll have a job doing it this weekend, as it ended a minute ago /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is there a specific problem that I can look for? Specific problems usually throw up forums and links to manuals or at least sections of manuals that are related... or is it just general stuff?

Currently have no recoil spring and no idea how to fit one or where to get it from, but also need to service it and get it going so need to know how to set it up and what to expect when I pull the cord, and there should be some method of starting it without the cord or recoil spring

Firstly the year:
CN are the date letters C=8 and N=2 so that's 1982.

You can find the part numbers you want from

HERE
or

But don't fret if you do not find the exact model number listed

WillsMarine are good for mail order spares but the Johnson/Evinrude dealer of your choice should be able to get what you need.

There does not seem to be any provision for starting without the recoil starter. Some models have provision to wind a cord on Seagull style.

A manual is to be recommended but you are likely to find anything other than the OEM manual unsatisfactory as they cover too many models. The CDs on eBay are the worst by all accounts.

First class help and advice from the iBoats forums But quote the model details with the question.

BTW
The best model number guide for Johnson and Evinrudes is

One manual available from Amazon for about £30 is the Seloc one but covers all models from 1971 to 1989 up to 60HP.

Seloc

Or there is one covering a similarly impressive range from

Clymer

I do not think you will find anything on line

Dave

I have just found this thread.

I have here a copy of the Clymer Evinrude / Johnson manual for 2 - 40 hp 1973 - 1990.

I do not see a seahorse mentioned.
There is an Ultra 4 and an Excel 4

Give me a call.
