Hi all,

I have a slight leak from behind the impeller housing on my engine's raw water pump (where there's a gap where you can see the crankshaft spinning), so looks like it's the bearing/seal between the impeller housing and crankshaft that needs replacing. Can anyone point me to the correct service/repair kit please, it's a Johnson F5-B (10-24230-5). Parts are interchangeable with 10-24230-1, 2, 3 & 4. Found this one that looks right, can anyone confirm or advise please? I've removed the impeller, nothing looks obviously amiss. Pics below...

Thanks,
David.

According to my information, the Lip seal for that pump has a part number 05-29-515.
These are available individually or as part of a service kit with part number 09-45808.

Thanks Trev, any idea where in UK I can buy either the kit or lip seal, the one I linked to I don't think has the lip seal included. This one I think does - would it be the part between the O ring & gasket in the image?

I refurbished our Johnson pump FSB-9 as follows:

2 x SKF 6202 - 2RSH bearings

Double lipped seal with stainless spring 16 x 28 x 7 (Viton). I got this from Amazon, of all places.

I refurbished the shaft with a Speedi-sleeve although I don't have the number for that.

These parts are fairly widely available at no great cost. (Make sure you get a stainless spring for the seal.) There's a video showing how to refurbish. You have to get a bit creative to find suitable drifts and presses and I think I used sockets. It wasn't too difficult.

Thanks all for the useful tips and info,

ASAP price £24 for lip seal, full kit inc. lip seal, 2 x bearings, 4 x cover screws, O ring, gasket & impeller inc. postage (from Germany) for £43, no contest. I've also found a video of somebody doing the same pump on Youtube...
