Johnson 9.9hp Outboard help

Having just acquired an old Johnson 9.9hp 2-stroke outboard the starter cord return spring has broken and I am faced with junking it or looking for a replacement.

Has anybody got any ideas about finding old spares or has anybody gor a dead unit available for spares?

You do not say how old but within reason a relacement spring should be available from agents. in the USA they seem to run Evinrudes and Johsons for donkeys years.

if you check through the parts lists for johnsons and evinrudes you will be able to identify what models used the same spring See here

quote the model number on the Johnnyrude board of the i Boats forum and someone will be able to tell you which they are.

I had mine serviced and modified by a company in Christchurch - ages ago - and I can't find name.
