Johnson 8hp Outboard value?

Johnson 8hp two stroke, twin cylinder 03/04 model in good condition but hasn't been used for a year and therefore probably needs a service.

What's it worth? Looking to buy, but i'm unsure on price!

Around £400 would be my guess, possibly a bit less depending on overall condition and flow of water from telltale. Johnsons tend not to make as much as other makes.

What I usually do in these circumstances is have a look on Ebay and check out "Completed Listings". That way you find out what people have actually paid rather than what people are asking.

I assume their build quality/design life has improved since the early 90s..(delighted for all those lucky posters with old, fine Johnson/evinrude 2 strokes from that era)

I agree with the suggestion of checking out sold prices on ebay. Even so l think some outboards go for prices well over what they are worth especially when you think most have not been serviced in ages and come with no sort of guarantee.

Try checking out secondhand outboards on outboard dealer websites. For example l know of an 8hp Tohatsu saildrive, 2006 model going for £775.
