Just giving our Johnson 4 stroke 6hp a bit of a service but have noticed a problem with the enginre oil, it is cloudy!
Drained the old oil, replaced with nice new golden coloured stuff but when I pulled some out into a syringe five minutes later it was all cloudy. Not necessarily milky and certainly no sign of cream on top just cloudy.
Now I did have to drain the old stuff out cold because there was no cooling water flowing out the indicator so couldn't warm engine up first but the drain plug was out and left to drip for a couple of hours. This engine has been immersed in the salt water for the past eighteen months if that would make any difference.
Wondering whether to to flush it out by draining the oil again and running it up with some auto gearbox fluid in for ten minutes or so.
By the way having now stripped the gearbox off to replace the impeller it is obvious why no water flowing, the water inlet was completely clogged with some sort of salt water crystal paste, really thick and heavy no wonder the water couldn't get through.
