I have a small geny which has a Johnson 35 b water pump .
The impeller shredded last March , so for €14 or so I easily replaced it in June for the season .We run it at anchor every 4-5 hrs for an hr to top up the Dom batt bank and the gauges usually show it max stuff is around 40 Ah or lower for a 180 Ah domestic bank .

Hard to say exactly how many hrs it done est 20 ?-50 ? But it’s got a spun hub .

The brass bit come loose .The vanes look ( despite the pic ) as new .Previously when I have changed them they were worn often missing vanes etc .

My Q is is it alright to simply glue the brass hub back to the rubber ? That screw in the hub goes through the rubber as well .

I always carry 2 spares anyhow , but maybe due to the tiny ness of it , the relatively thickness of rubber the screw is perforating the rubber 2-3 mm its a bit of a chocolate tea pot to assume the screw is sufficient to stop the thing from spinning it’s hub .

I know it’s @€14 , but s it a shame to throw it and simply unpack a new one and wait another 20 hrs or so .
There has to be a better way of stopping the hub spinning .

Looks more like you have an Infirior quality impeller than anything else.

Is this a genuine one your using or a copy?

Came with gaskets , o ring and lub gel .But it could well be inferior .
What should I be buying ?
Hi,

Either

Johnson Pump 09-808B-1
Or Jabsco 22405-0001

They aren't expensive Asap has them on at 24 pounds. They should last somewhere around 250 hours depending on water conditions and pump head.

The cheap ones often fail where the adhesive doesn't stick to the brass bushing, the pin isn't sufficient to drive the neoprene part, hence failure.
