I am the owner (proud) of a 1961 John Perry of Cosham built folk boat. She is 28 foot mahogany on oak). She was rebulit about 7 years ago. She is in good condition but needs some TLC on top as I have let the varnish peel off. I currently have this boat for sale, but so far had little interest, I don't think I am reaching the right audience, and I wondered if this community could give me some suggestions on how I can find the right owner for this lovely example of a classic boat. Any suggestions or interested parties?

Have sent Private Message. (Click on the flashing envelope to the left of Main Index above. A friend only mentioned looking for Folk Boat type 3 days ago. Cheers, Mike.

Your problem may not be a case of reaching the right audience. It sounds to me as though the people looking for a boat look at the exterior cosmetic appearance and take this as a guide to general condition of the boat. You are competing against all the other people who are selling a boat, and their boats are freshly varnished, etc, and as bright as a new pin. What you dismiss as mere TLC is to them Time, Labour and Cash. It is difficult enough to sell a boat without making it more so by having the boat look unappealing. It is going to take a very, very low price to make someone overlook the poor finish.

You could try advertising it on here or use Boats and Outboards who are a free advertising site who have a seperate section for Classic Boats and boats that could be regarded as Projects. A photo warts and all does help when selling.

Yes I appreciate the point and you are perfectly correct. however the price reflects (your definition)of the additional TLC that would be required to restore her to her formal glory which would not be to onerous a task.
