Given Dylan's recent thread about Arthur Ransome, it seems a good time to ask about another writer often associated with sailing, John Masefield.
There is much written about Masefield's long voyages on large ships during his early life, but I cannot find any reference to boats he may have owned or sailed privately during later life, particularly during the 1950s. Can anyone provide some enlightenment?
(My interest stems from a conversation with my mother-in-law, whose father was a rope seller. She mentioned that Masefield regularly bought rope from him during the 50s and she recalled that it may have been for a boat moored in Poole.)
