Jimi's been sneaking off behind your backs, and asking questions on the stinkie forum. Seems he's looking at ways of making his boat go faster: bigger engine, jet drives etc.

As an outsider, it seems to me that the obvious solution is for Jimi to get one of those super looking MacGregor trailer sailers with a thumping big outboard. That way, he can sail and water ski, depending on how he feels.

Could the panel discuss the suitability of such a vessel for our Jimi, please?

Hi Graham,

I agree, and concerned about Jimi. He's started to moor stern to be just like power boaters. Also, he's even started to keep Glen Tosa clean and other day believe or not he appeared on the pontoon tidy and shaven. Who knows what's next !

Wow that's a good idea, I'd imagine thar if I get 3 2500HP jet drives that not only will it plane at 78knots but it will turn on a cent in a marina. However I was considering electric turbine jet drives with a nuclear power plant to minimise vibration & noise, what do you think?

The site is only in Dutch, but below the first photo you will find some spec's that must be to your liking...
The boat carries two Diesel engines of almost 5500 HP and a turbine of 9200 HP.
And yes it is a pleasure yacht... (?)
There is also some info on fuel consumption.

hmmm. I would fit a 'shimmy damper' on the rudder if I were you. At 78 knots even the slightes deviation from the straight and true will mean the keel will have a slight 'angle of attack' when presented to the water flow and the resultant lift force will be many tons of force, perpendicular to the direction of travel. meaning that the boat will lie down on its side almost instantaneously every time you try to turn. Of course as soon as it does the keel will no longer be in the water so it should gently stand up again and continue on its way at 78 knots.
This method of progression should be failry interesting to watch!

Well at least she will break all fuel consumption records for a boat this size!

Doing only 750 NM with almost 57 thousand litres of fuel is a bit over my budget.
Think about it, not being able to use red Diesel anymore...

I'll stick to my 10HP petrol engine for now... That thing uses more fuel running idle than my boat at full speed. Agreed, that's only 5.5 knots, but still.
