👍Thanks Rupert. When they started SailMail they were the first, I think, to make GRIB data available using Saildocs over HF/SSB. They kindly made the service freely available to all. That could be a useful resource for use over satellite telephones.
When Iridium data came back to service (talking 20+ years ago) it was quickly integrated in AirMail, the software they created for email via SSB, AirMail (and all the Saildocs system) has been used since both with SailMail radio (via Pactor modems) and satellite phones, I myself used it with both Iridium phones and Inmarsat Isatphone.
The recent problem (end 2025) is Iridium retired their own email system, which is now only available through other commercial services Predictwind etc at additional costs.
Jim Corenman also contributed to the Winlink system, the email via radio system for radio amateur users, his callsign is KE6RK should you need to contact there should likely be an address with his callsign @winlink.org ,
regards :)

Thank you for reminding us of the background and the valuable contributions of Jim and Stan. I only wrote the OP because I was interested to know if either were still active. Father Tlme never stands still. My mini-bio was only because many forumites will have not heard of neither and be unaware of the valuable contributions they played in improving safety at sea.
