For gods sake Robin, Didn't you pay any attention to the recent threads where pwc users came onto these forums to defend themselves, and despite all the abuse thrown at them were moderate and put forward good and reasonable arguements. They went back to their own forum disgusted with the treatment they were given, though a few of us visited them there, and encouraged them to continue.
You may have seen a minority behaving badly, but I've seen raggies behaving badly too, and don't condemn you all because of that.

I have no argument Brendan with anyone until they show that they have no respect for others and that goes for all and of whatever persuasion. Badly behaved raggies were not the topic of this post any more than were badly behaved mobos but if they were would be both equally criticised.
As I already said, my post was to counter the claim that PWCs were a misunderstood group and not deserving of their bad reputation IN POOLE. Well the bad ones may well be the minority but I'm afraid in Poole they don't seem like a minority at all. As a result I am afraid most of us who cruise out of Poole whether sail or power expect bad behaviour from them all like it or not, and are rarely disappointed. If they want things to change then they need to DO something about it, coming onto a forum and saying things are better is fine and dandy but read my lips NOTHING HAS CHANGED. They still chase the fast ferries like mad dogs chasing cars, they still spoil Studland Bay for anyone wanting a peaceful stop for lunch or for a swim off the boat, they still slalom in and out of the moorings and the incident I referred to of them (3 together) tearing through our marina was in July this year, just a few weeks back.
I will say that we spent a couple of nights in July anchored off Swanage and there were plenty of PWCs about there too. The difference was amazing, they went off the slip and straight off the beach at 90 degs and slowly out to beyond the speed limit markers before doing their thing and when they returned were equally well behaved.
Why the big difference between Swanage and Poole? Is it that Poole is within easy drive of London and attracts the PWCS that are banned from other places like Chichester or what? Your boat is Lymington based and Lymington I believe has no PWCs in common with a lot of other Solent harbours, so you encounter them mostly in open waters and mostly away from anchorages. In Poole we have them in the moorings, in the anchorages, in the entrance, in Studland Bay, off all the beaches and in fact the place least likely to have them is their 'designated area'.
