I had a Tornado and sailed out of W Mersea..
They can be somewhat fast and are also somewhat wide.. Really not the sort of boat to sail in the close confines of a place like that.
On one ocassion I realised I was about to hit a tender moored to a buoy..
Unable to bear away I simply cranked in the main and lifted the hull and flew over the tender.. Then put her down..
When i think about it now i shudder about the arrogance and my lack of experience .. So yes there are also some absolute numpties on sailing boats!,!
Someone who shall remain unnamed (no it wasn't me) did exactly that in Brightlingsea creek a few years ago - flew a Tornado hull over one of the harbour boats (rumour has it the harbourmaster was in it). End result - a bit of a tense discussion between the sailing club and the harbour folks, and catamarans now banned from flying spinnakers in the creek!
