Screaming kids, mobile phones, drunken teenagers, and people whingeing on about dogs?

We must be going to different beaches.

But a couple of big diesels rumbling past in the distance on their way to somewhere else are a lot less annoying than a high pitched buzz that never goes far away -- even if the meter readings at 25m are identical.

No problem at all with your example of big diesels. Completely different quality of sound as well as transient.

A white haired demented gog stole some of my orange bailing twine to fix some raggies spray dodger yesterday.

He's nicked some before to hold his trousers up, which I can tolerate, but wasting it on a raggies boat is beyond the pale.
