Went on a 777 to Hawaii for Xmas cruise via L.A. Great plane and AA give you bags of leg room ( even tho I have short legs!).. Ship did all the islands and I even visited a live volcano with lava flow! Had the honour of standing on the youngest piece of land on earth. The ship was not U.S flagged so had to go 1000 miles south to the Republic of Kirabati, which was over the dateline and 200 miles short of the equator. The little atol, which is only 8ft above sea level, called Fanning Island, had only 300 natives, no power or phones! ( someone was VERY upset). No one was old as they have no dentist or doctor. They rely on the 2 - 3 week visits of the ship which can't anchor there due to the depth of the water.
The problem now is that I am 10 hours jet lagged and am tired during the day (not unusual) and awake at night( very unusual) !!.. Anyone have any tips in getting back to normal time?
Dave ( in disguise) as re-typed with correct spelling by my "secretary" as posted in error on wrong forum..due to brain defect from being jet lagged! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I also went on a BA 777 via Orlando for a New Year cruise. Got upgraded on return with "extra" facilities and more room than was needed! Even though I never suffer from jetlag, ( I am always awake at night anyway) I could recommend a very good remedy.. Next time, stay at home !..if that doesn't work..you can just have a horlicks and put a pillow over your head!. Marilynne /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Sounds like a great trip.

As regards your jet-lag, Melatonin is the natural sleep regulating hormone produced by the pineal gland, and, if it is available in the United Kingdom, a dose of 3 mg taken when you go to bed for a few nights, should get you back on track.

Dont quite see what your problem is.
Every month I fly from europe to the far east and back. Take a night flight from Amsterdam, in an old 747,and arrive in K.L. mid afternoon. Coming back night flight from K.L. and land in Amsterdam 0630, again in an old 747. Usually too late to catch the early onward connection so have to wait around in KLM's lounge for a couple of hours.
Put your watch on your destination time as soon as you get on board.

hello David

After a trip like that you deserve to suffer a little surely /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif? Restore the Ying/Yang ballance!

Seriously though, I have used arnica to help offset my jetlag as reccomended by a homeopathic pharmacist

Regards
Cameron

Sounds like a great trip. Which cruise line did you go with?
The jet lag will wear off after a few days. Just try to go to bed at your normal (UK) time.

Norwegian Cruise Lines " Norwegian Wind" 80000 tons. Out of Honolulu. Freestyle which means no set resturant and optional dress. Most of the Yanks prefer casual but I think it is worth dressing up. Casual clothes does'nt look right with silver service. Dave.

This year was my ex's "turn", as we alternate the New Year week and I used it last year!..It's a pity though, as he did rent it out and I'm sure you could have used it....Never mind..I have this year!!..so we'll see what happens...At the moment he has the summer week there and I have Craigendarrach's summer week. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif..Have no idea if I'll be using mine yet or not.. I'll let you know !
