Jester Challenge

[Albin Vega]

Hello,
I'm new in this forum.
I plan to enter in the Jester Challenge 2014.
The boat I chose for that is a "Albin vega" good price, good reputation of taking care of his "Captain" when the whether get not so friendly... all this with a good turn of speed.
Any suggestion would be welcome in order to prepare this adventurous journey. (specially on the boat preparation by some ones who have experiences with similare boat)
but advice on the route would be welcome as well (never cross the Atlantic north Est to West) I have more experience in the trade winds and back from USA to Europe. (I convoyed vessels from the mediterranean sea up to caribbean and back and on my lugger did some navigation around Atlantic as well)
On my short list I have to boat I will pay a visit before the end of the month.
Next June this year I will go to Acores to check the boat and see what I need to do on her in terms of final preparation.

Hi Stephan,
Delighted to hear you're going to have a go at the JC14 - the Albin Vega is a tried and tested design and should serve you well.
I'm also planning a warm-up to the Azores this summer, I have a new (new to me, that is) boat and have put my name down for the JC14, so I thought it would be sensible to get some sea miles in first. I plan to get the boat to Plymouth in May and then set off early June. Whether I'll be ready then is another matter altogether, but if not then I'll just postpone it until I am - the weather is not helping the preparation in the meantime. So, maybe see you in Plymouth in June?

The JC info site is at http://www.jesterinfo.org/ and you may find that interesting. You can't make contact with anyone there.

Apply to join the Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jesterchallenge/. You will be accepted and can post and receive all the messages everyone else gets. Make your interest known and Ewen will add you to the list of challengers.
