John Apps from the Roach Sailing Association (or last of the summer wine, marine division) has just completed the 2006 Jester challenge. He is the third person to finish. He started last year but had to turn back after several major atlantic storms broke the shrouds on one side of the boat. He managed to get back from the azores on one tack. Anyway he set off again this year and has finished and sailed home!! A great local achievement from a charming and modest man.
