Thanks to everyone who have helped with our questions in the past, we are just about ready to bring our boat back from Jersey this Weekend, Weather Permitting.

1) Trim Indicator fixed! (The Hood on the leg was loose where it attaches to the steering arm 1 grub screw, so the Potentiometer was not engaging with the drive of the Gear wheel )

2) Raymarine C80 GPS/Plotter/Radar being fitted this week

3) Life raft fully serviced, new flares, Fire extinguishers, etc

4) New Fire extinguishing system fitted in engine bay and fuel tank area
FD250M + FG100M + Manual Discharge Cable's ( Ouch!!)

5) Have Hired a Skipper to assist with the Delivery as It’s our first time across the Channel and have never done any long distance navigation before.

When we get back we would like to meet up with anyone from the North Wales area, We are going to be based in Deganwy Key .

Will let you Know how we get on when we are back

Cheers

Andy

Yes the Marina is open from 1st April, the Marina buildings are not complete yet, but we have been told that plush 'Portable cabins' are to be used .

So they finally got Deganwy sorted out! We kept our Fairline on a swinging mooring just opposite the quay for several years. Conwy and Menai straits is a lovely cruising ground - enjoy! A publication you MUST have is the local pilot published by the North Wales Cruising Club, - very detailed and accurate stuff. Get back to me if you don't know of it and I'll dig out the details of availability etc.

Hi Ian

Deganwy Quay is just opposite Conwy Marina; It’s a Small Marina 160 berths, on the Menai straits.

Blueglass, thanks we have a copy and yes it is excellent, we are looking forward to doing some nice cruises around Anglesey and to Ireland / IOM

Enjoy the trip Andy. I bought my 24' Colvic from Jersey to east coast in Nov 2002. It was my first genuine sea boat and first open sea journey, it took five days sailing over eight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although a bit cold in the early dark hours it was some experience to have up to 18 large ships and ferries around us near Folkstone and Dover at any one time and to have one huge ferry stop and wait for us to pass the exit from Dover just about took the biscuit. Such first time experiences at 60 years old makes retiring all so worth while.
Wish you the best of luck with the weather.

I work in NW nearly every week and stop for my lunch (sandwiches) at Conwy marina quite regularly, I have never seen this marina, exactly how do you get to it I would like to take a look.

Hi Ian

Deganwy Quay is on the other side of the straits. Just up a bit from Conwy ( towards the Castle )

By Car, If you come of from the A55 at Conwy town, instead of turning left over the suspension bridge ( A547 ), turn right and follow the A546 to Deganwy, the Marina is a couple of miles down the road on the left where the new houses and are being built.

Ian ,
Ignore what he's just said about the other side of the "straits". Deganwy is on the same side of them as Conwy is. However it is on the north side of the R.Conwy and nearer to the river mouth.

Thanks I will "check it out" next week.
