Jeeze! Can\'t IPC get ANYTHING right!

in an attempt to be popular and be seen to be up with current events, YM has published an article on it's website connecting the released RN & RNM crews with Gipsy Moth IV.

See:- this page

however, i would like to point out that HMS Cornwall IS NOT a floating aide memoir for the emergency services phone number.

It's designation is actually F99 NOT F999.

What do you expect?

It would seem the most of IPC's web team are spotty oinks on work experience /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Saw a few IPC job adverts in the past - all included the line "yachting experience not essential".
Guess this was posted by one of those.

Mmm, dont believe all you read in the papers then.

The Times had the 15 sailors aboard "a RIB which is a 'ribbed inflatable'"

Made by Durex I suppose.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the story was posted by our news ed. Dick Durham, who has more years sailing experience than he'd care to admit to! He posted the story after coming straight from the airport - he's been in Egypt with Gipsy Moth for the last week. Give the guy a break...

ps - it's corrected now. Thanks for the eagle eyes.

Hmmnn; otherwise its a shame thatgenerally, there seems to be a move to more of the "journalist" and less of the "sailor" at Stamford Street these days!

Only a PERSONAL observation, of course.

[/ QUOTE ] Problem is not so much with the Journalists as with the Sub-Editors, who are supposed to pick up on this kind of thing but who may or may not have detailed knowledge of their subject area, particularly if they are working on a consumer magazine. They will pick up on bad grammar (probably

) and the correct spelling of Robin Knox-Johnston (possibly /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif) but are unlikely to be familiar with the protocol for designation numbers for Her Majesty's Grey Funnel Line.

Give 'em a chance; or are you gunning for Sgeir's "Victor Meldrew" Award? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
