I have been looking at the Prestige 36 for a while now but have been put off somewhat by the very tight engine access on boats with volvo d6 engines. I see later models with the D4 300. Is engine access any easier with the D4 and more generally is it underpowered with d4 vs d6?

Many thanks

The D4 is the same width as the D6, so if it's width that makes the D6 access tight, they are the same ( except at the forward end of course due to 4 cylinders rather than 6). For the single D4 in my boat, access if anything is better than for the V8 petrol engines in the same boat despite the D4 looking physically a lot bigger.

The D4 36 is easier to service than the same boat with the KAD 300 in . Only anode on port intercoolers is the devil .

I was considering a 36 with KAD300's as next boat, but for the life of me can't find engine bay pics. The Smeraldo 37 (also KAD300's) is a dream to work on... I really don't want to lose that joyus feeling when entering the engine bay.

Only anode on port intercoolers is the devil .

Is that because of the installation ? Mine was quite easy once some non VP hardware was removed, especially a 50mm2 ground cable that restricted access to the anode plug. Ground wire now relocated to the port side, some nice easily accessable M10 threaded holes there.
