Newbie here - just joined - hello to all.

Very new to boats, but have got the bug and must have one.

Been looking for a while and like the Merryfisher 655. Now after any views/reviews from owners etc about this boat - good or bad!!

Have looked at the smaller craft (Warriors and Raiders etc) but not keen. I am after a 20-25ft fast fisher with diesel inboard mainly for cruising coastal Devon with family and some fishing.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Big D

welcome to the forum. I had a good look at the 655 at SIBS (was looking for a new boat myself). It certainly is a nice piece of kit and Jeanneau seems to have a good standard of finish. (Probably the best of the .eau boats in that price range IMHO)

The only thing I did not like was the access to the cabin - squeezing between the 2 helm seats (which I'm told is highly popular now) and the galley area.

Another boat I looked at was the Artaban, similar but different, might be worth comparing if within your budget.
Have a look here

We have a 655 to start with we did have a big problem with the gearbox and it took about 6 to 8 weeks to get it fixed, but now we love the boat, the layout works very well for us (2 adults and 2 kids). It is very good when the going get rough. They are very well put together.I am now very happy with it.

Wow - that was quick - replies already... lol

sb1.... what engine do you have at what hp? what do you cruise at and what can you get at full chat.

How much fuel per hour does she use cruising and flat out?

Do you find the dual helm cramped for two? When I looked it seemed ok - though access below was tight... but then so are others I have seen.

thanks

I have the Volvo D3 110,no thats the best thing about the boat there is alot of room for that size. It is happy at 14 knots and will do 17 knot but thats through anything you dont have to slow down for big waves just hit them. As for fuel my last boat was petrol so i have not watched the fuel. But we have put 120 litres in it in 50 hours and it has done 249 nm

We were considering the MF655 against the Quicksilver 640 Weekender - we looked at both at SIBS.

In our mind there was only 1 winner, the Quicksilver. It looked a much better quality boat, it was a fair bit cheaper, and essential accessories were already included or didn't cost a fortune like the MF.

We placed an order and are looking forward to receiving her next spring
