Max speed 30 knots, onto the plane quick even without tabs, weight of the boat at the bow keeps it down
Very comfortable for a weekend (there were 3 of us) - I just can't get over the amount of space downstairs. To me they feel like a well built boat. The walkarounds are unbeatable
The only thing I didn't like is the canopy - what a fookin disaster. Also, she catches the wind a lot for a 26' boat - We were out in a strong wind and really you needed 2 people to dock her.
I'm considering one myself, but undecided between a Doral 250 VS. Leader 805. Much prefer the look of the Doral, but the practicality of an 805 cant be beaten
Hi BigD, I own a 2006 805 fitted with a D4 260hp and she flys. The space is unbeatable and the performance is great becasue unlike most American lake boats Jeanneau haven't compromised the V of the hull so performance is great in choppy conditions. Walk around is great for access when berthing and when loafing. my previous boat was a maxum with a walkthrough windscreen. i'd never have another walk through WS boat again, they are (feel) dangersous in anythin other than falt calm when puttin out fenders etc. I would recommend fitting trim tabs as this allows you to get the bow down in the rougher stuff. I've fitted the QL tabs and they work great (small hull mod required). This is a greate weekend boat that is still nippy enough to ski behind. The covers are a bit of a compromise. We use the forward section only and most of the time run with the covers down as the windscreen gives great protection when sitting down. There is a very good dealer network in the UK. I bought mine from Waltons who have been great pre and post sales. I did have some small issues but they were sorted. PM me if you want more info.
PS I am happy solo on this boat (just) so I don't know what Nial is doing, I find the boat easy to control (except perhaps reversin into a finger berth but that is fiddly on all single engine boats)
wakeup - Trying to get my way into a finger berth in a Force 6 .... the first time i've ever driven the boat! ... That's what I was doing /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Still managed it though! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Excuses... excuses, you'll be getting a bow thruster on that 250 doral the way you're going /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I would imagine the 250 would be interesting in a wind with the radar arch. The Doral look good but they stand mush higher out of the water than the 805. i would imagine they'll be just as much a handful in windy conditions.
Note that with the D4 is at least 100kg havier than the KAD43 so the nose rides a little higher so trim tabs a good idea if you are picking up a D4 model. I am told though that the KAD43 are the most reliable engine produced in this range to date though and maintenance costs should be lower on the KAD 43.
Had access to one for two years same as wakeups, very appealing with full walkaround, good internal layout, excellent cockpit social area, trim tabs were i thought essential,we had extended platform very handy, would have loved to have kept it.(was my mums, even she could handle it in a breeze!!) /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
