Jeanneau leader 805 with kad300 , wanting to replace water heater with calorifier

Hi all
I'm planning of changing my shore powered only electric hot water heater to a calorifier type.
Does anyone have an installation of this type they could send photos and advise regards positioning and securing in engine bay.
Current set up has 240 volt power ready, accumulater and pump, so I'm hoping volvo engine kit, plus calorifier plus pipe upgrades and not too much else....?

Are there any unused connections on the existing tank ?

If not, measure the tank and find a similar sized one, the standard tank on your boat should be 25l. I'd recommend a Surecal calorifier.

Fitting should be straightforward. Swap the tank, fit the fittings to the engine, connect the hoses. You should also add an expansion tank to the hot system, somewhere between the hot outlet on the tank and the taps, this is in addition to the accumulator.
 
The additional expansion tank also needs to be set at a slightly different value to the first one, as it's there to absorb the expansion of water when its heated in the calorifier where the pressure cannot escape past the one way valve.

I would hope though it already exists in the system you have.

Only thing I would add is it's useful to fit valves at either end of the system but especially at the engine end in case of leaks.

An accumulator was standard, but no expansion tank. They may have got away with it if the existing tank has no non-return valve.

My Sadler 34 came new with a calorifier but no accumulator or expansion tank. It worked perfectly well like that for more than 10 years until the constant clicking of the pump persuaded me to fit an accumulator.
