Jeanneau Leader 705

Does anyone have experience of the electric bilge pump installation on a Jeanneau Leader 705?

It appears to be positioned behind the engine that would require the engine to be removed to access it, not ideal..!!

We can't actually confirm that is the case as access to see it is near impossible. Gopro on a stick hasnt been able to find it either!

There is a switch for it, we can see the pipe work running to it, and it was listed as an extra on the original sales invoice, so I am convinced it exists.

As pulling the engine to replace it, clearly isnt an option. Could we fit an inline pump on the pipework we can access? Will it suck through a bilge pump at the bottom?

Don't know your boat specifically but Jeanneau are usually smart about these things. If you follow the pipework in the other direction perhaps there is already a pump in-line.
Alternatively there might be a pump mid-ship or there about.

No, had 3 people look at it now. It just isn't accessible.
There is no chance of getting at it with the engine in place.
We are just going to put a new one in using the existing power supply and pipework.

Boats, eh!

Jeanneau 805 Leader, exactly the same problem! Bilge pump buried somewhere deep under the engine where it's impossible to get at and no way of knowing whether it worked (silence when the bilge pump switch was activated so probably not, but could perhaps have had a float switch that activated it, no way of knowing).

I simply had one installed (complete with float switch) at the front of the engine bay, you can see it at 5:48 seconds in this video.

Not sure about Jeanneau 'being pretty smart about these things', they get the fundamentals very right (great hulls, good layouts etc) but a few of the details are woeful, this being one of them. I sometimes wonder whether anyone at the factory has ever been boating...

Thanks Nick, good to know its not me going mad and missing something obvious. We plan on a similar set up with a new pump in front of the engine.

I think on the 705, access must be possible with the petrol engines. but with a KAD 32 there is barely any room to spare in the engine compartment.
