I want to replace the Jeanneau-issue Sony radio/CD player on my SO35. The proprietory Sony 16pin plug connects to a round connector on the wiring harness:

The new radio (Pioneer) also has a proprietory socket and comes with a converter 'tail' to an ISO10487 socket (I had wrongly assumed the boat had one.)
What is that round connector? Is it any sort of standard audio connector, or is this a Jeanneau special? If the former I might be able to buy a converter to an ISO plug and get it brought out here to Greece.
As you can see from the pictures, not all the wires go through the round socket, so I suspect this is a Jeanneau special.

Why bother with the round connector at all? Just connect the wires from your new connector to the loom.
Well, the round connector is part of the loom, so if I have to make make something I'd use that if I can get plug for it.

And I don't want to much spend time and effort doing this; the new radio just adds an audio line-in socket - see my thread here. I'm out in Greece for 3 months; I prefer to make things back in the UK rather than doing it here where I have few facilities.

To avoid, go to Jeanneau Owners Forum.

http://jeanneau.proboards.com/

There is a technical hep forum.

Thanks I'll take a look. Some Jeanneau forums are US based and I'm not sure that the specs are the same, though. (To avoid what, BTW?)

It is a UK based info website and also has a forum - you will find all sorts of info. Register your boat there.

I will photograph my installation at the boat today, I junked the Sony 3 or 4 years ago.

To Mr Mercier: The use of 'exactly' is how my teenage children used to reply and is steeped in some sort of sarcasm.

I have the same connector in my Jeanneau, it's peculiar isn't it.
If your problem is that you don't know which pin is which into the Sony and can't trace the wires back to connect something else direct to them, I have the pin-out diagram of the Sony, can scan if that would help.

Thanks for that offer. I expect the Sony pinouts are on the web, but I can't find them I'll PM you.

My main problem is to identify the round connector so that I can buy a plug and make a tail to an ISO10487 socket. It's a marine connector, I think. It looks like it's for fitting to a bulkhead or enclosure - it has an o-ring seal. Plotter? Radar?

Another solution would be to use a Sony socket but, apart from dismantling a Sony radio, I doubt it I could obtain one.

I only got a replacement radio because I thought it would be simple to fit!
