Getting frustrated by the light winds by the sound of it and looking forward to a run ashore and some fresh veggies after 255 days at sea.

Under 300m to go to the Straits of Juan de Fuca. The last bit might be interesting for her as I suspect there will be a welcoming fleet!
255 days at sea! That certainly requires detachment from mankind...

Looks like quite a weekend..... Wimbledon Men's Singles Final, German Grand Prix, and Jeanne Socrates making landfall, at last, after her singlehanded circumnavigation.

S/Y “Nereida” - Day 258

4975

Jeanne Socrates is currently fighting a foul tide and little wind, 27 nm short of the entrance to start of the final 50nm of the Straight of Juan de Fuca before making the final turn to port and the remaining 9nm where she will then cross the Ogden Point Breakwater marking the completion of her record breaking, Solo Round The World voyage.

A Webcam covering the Ogden point can be found at but I suspect Jeanne will probably cross the line during the hours of darkness:

At 0953UTC (10:53am) Jeanne Socrates onboard "Nereida" has just entered the Straight of Juan de Fuca and started on the final leg of her RTW voyage.

This last 50 nm passage is a very busy seaway only 9½ miles wide in places and she has little wind from the NW and not allowed to use her engine.

At the time of writing, is in the middle of her night 2:53am Vancouver time and her current position is 48° 31.236'N 124° 39.312'W.

Looks like it could be a frustrating last 50nm too.

Light winds according to Passageweather. . . . . .

Since my last post this morning at 0953, Jeanne has progressed only 11 nm up the Straight of Juan de Fuca. She has had wind on the starboard quarter 3 knots gusting 5 knots most of the day but this has recently increased to 9 knots gusting 11 knots but still has over 37 nm to travel before the final turn to port and the run home.

Her current location is 48° 26.314'N 124° 24.469'W

UPDATE at 0421UTC

Jeanne Socrates has just negotiated the 50nm passage the Straight of Juan de Fuca. As I type, she is pushing the helm over to start the port turn towards the north, rounding The Race Rocks and the Race Rocks Light, the final corner.

It is now dusk, Vancouver time 9:21pm, and she only has about 10 nm to complete. The wind is SSW at 7 knots gusting 9 knots.

Welcome home Jeanne. Congratulations.

UPDATE 0930 UTC

Jeanne Socrates onboard S/Y "NEREIDA" crossed the Ogden Point Breakwater at approximately 0929 UTC thus completing a solo Round The World voyage of 260 days.

She crossed the breakwater with a 4 knots breeze, a whisper of a wind to push her along.

Well done Jeanne and hearty congratulations.
