JB Covers

Our current set of covers are in there third year and still as new. We use the old covers as a winter set and re proof the new ones each year.

Jims quality is way over and above the factory supplied set.

We also bought our covers from Jim just over 2 years ago but have never had them cleaned or reproofed but intend doing it this year. Can you recommend someone in the Hamble area or does Jim also clean and reproof

I called Jim about cleaning my canvas last year, I was happy to do it myself but wanted his guidance. He said just get a lower powered pressure washer and hold the nozzle at an angle and then reproof with Fabsil Gold. Did that and they came up like new again, just don't hold the nozzle too close and away from the stitching.

Jim will clean and re proof but as Scubadoo says, it's so easy to do yourself!!

Ive seen lots of there work and all very good, the only gripe ive heard so many times is the fact he does them tight, but too tight as it shrinks you cant get the poppers back on unless you wet the canopy with the hose, shame really a he is so good.

I agree absolutely. After a few years the canopy fitted to my Sealine 330 became very hard work to fasten, and was only relatively easy to do when warm. In the winter some of the fasteners became impossible. Eventually the stitching along the zips stated to fail due to the shrinkage. I lost count of the number of finger nails I lost in the process. Also the difficulty caused by the effort needed was responsible for me falling in one cool evening as I put the boat to bed.

Just be warned. Great when new, but its downhill from there.

Well ours are on year five and remember they get used every week by lots of people, cleaned and reproved this winter but still highly pleased. However we are down for a new set in the summer not because they are completely worn out but I want to change the shape. I like Jim you get a straight answer a very fair price and top quality. As regards tight, well I have at least three fingers left :o

Tbh I couldn't get my new covers on for a start, jim then showed me the proper way of poppers on followed by tensioning via the zip. No issues now and very pleased.

JB did the new covers for DKII our Targa 34, much improved design over the originals with some really good extra features. They are drum tight but dead easy to fit provided you follow the way to take them on and off that Jim shows you. Jim came down to the boat one Saturday morning after fitting the new covers and we had a lesson from Jim on removing and fitting them!
