Jaguar 27?

They also built 6430 Catalina 30s, so was pretty impressive to have built 13000 boats in the 27 to 30 foot range.

They are such a successful US brand, but have never really put much effort into breaking any overseas markets. Licensing the odd design to Canadian or UK builders is I think the most they've done.

I forget the numbers now (could look it up??) but c27 /derivatives certainly exceeds that by a big margin. Over 6ooo C27s alone were built before the J27 and then the c270...………..

An excellent boat - I had one for several years - excellent sea boat, will look after you in a blow. Have sailed in F7 and never had any doubts about the seaworthiness. My mate was always p***** off with me because I was always faster than his Contessa 28!

Solid boats. Have sailed in F7's and 3m swells around Cornwall, across Bristol Channel and in Irish Sea. Lots of reserve buoyancy, high freeboard and well designed, large cockpit. Would happily do a transat in mine.

My J27 is ashore in North Wales. I am planning to sell her in the next 12-18 months. Asking price is £7,500. Might let her go for less: most important thing for me is that she will be sailed by new owner. Also for sale is my 8 ton Porth-y-Felyn deepwater mooring in Holyhead harbour for £1k...price non-negotiable.
PM me for Salve Nauta's history/inventory etc.

Hi...

Just bought my first boat - a Jaguar 27 - - to live on and start sailing. I'm so excited. She's been well looked after and I know there is always work to do.
Can I get on the email documents? I'm a novice too but am looking forward to learning. Let me know if I can PM you..

Thanks guys.

We had a J27 for several years before our current boat and it was excellent - faster than my friends Contessa 28 which always p***** him off... Very safe in heavy weather and always felt very capable. Sailed very well, same as American version but with heavier equipment.

Thinking of getting a Jaguar 27. A 45 year old (1975) one has come up in Oslo, Norway, advertised at £3000.

I'll be going to see it tomorrow, but wondered if there is anything I should look out for? Any particular known problems with these boats? The link to the ad is: Jaguar Jaguar 27. Its in Norwegian, but google translate works quite well. Have communicated with the owner who tells me that the engine (it's the original one) is well looked after, and had a major service 2 years ago.

Looks a pretty good one. The engine will be near the end of it's life though.
At that age it's mostly about the condition of everything, the boat itself isn't complex.

I really liked mine. It's a basic fit out so easy to fix everything.
Sailed well. Rudder didn't break, not even in a F6.

What would put me off is the unsupported rudder visions of jt catching around something.
