Hi all, I am purchasing a Jaguar 27 MkI and had a survey done yesterday and all was well.
However, the surveyor asked about the 'builders number' for the boat..........he said it would normally be found engraved into a piece of the internal timberwork somewhere, but we couldn't find one anywhere.
Although it's not absolutely necessary to have this number, I would like to be able to find it...........
Does anyone know where the number would / should be located on a Jaguar 27?
If it's been lost (replaced timberwork?), is it possible to get this information from somewhere?

My Jag 27 had a oval brass plate glassed to the outside of the starboard engine bearer. Found it after 7 years of ownership when cleaning up a battery acid spillage. It was well painted but did bear the builder name and number.

Thanks Unsinkable, I'll check that out the next time I'm at the boat.

I will also check out the users assoc., although it doesn't appear to be very active at the moment.

Mine has the oval brass plate. It's sitting on the galley worktop though at the moment. I have no idea where it was originally attached. I seem to recall someone mentioning one of the starboard lockers.

There's a moderately active Jaguar Users group on Yahoo

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JaguarYacht/

The bulk of correspondence is for Jaguar 21s and 22s, but there's some for 25s and 27s.

MKI, port side, under the ¼ berth, oval brass plate glassed to the hull - easily accessed by lifting the locker lid.
