J Class racing in Falmouth

I took this one to give an indication of scale the ketch with the red sails was one of the bigger yachts out there and would have looked impressive on any other day.

WOW very impressive, I wonder what their top speed is?

The race commentator on one of the days mentioned they can do 12-14 knots. They were certainly doing that today on the final day with a howling westerly blowing. We hope they come back in the future as it was a very spectacular event, especially when you listen in to the running commentary.

The finish. Lionheart ahead of Ranger, who won on handicap. Ranger won the series, 2nd Valsheda, 3rd Lionheart.

I have The J Class yacht Endeavour along side our Pontoon down here in Portugal. The owner decided not to race in the UK. It is amazing, the owner has a J Class Yacht as well as a 71metre Motor yacht for cruising. Each weekend they leave for a "jolly" and come back on Monday. Treating the J Class as a day boat.

All the owners have a "little" tender to sleep on........
